1- For those who do not know, can you introduce yourself?
I am Deonna Purrazzo, a professional wrestler from New Jersey! I am 21 years old and I have been wrestling for 3 years.
2-Can you describe your career for us?
I am a professional Wrestler.
3-When did you know you wanted to become a wrestler? How did your family react when you told them you wanted to be a wrestler?
I grew up watching wrestling with my brother, Dominic. once I saw the women wrestling, I knew I could do it too. So I was 9 when I decided I would become a wrestler. My parents thought it was just a phase but I begged for years to go wrestling school and when I turned 18, I signed myself up.
4-Can you talk about your first steps into this buisness?
My first day of training was 12/27/12. I was so nervous and I was the only girl in the class. So I didn't know what to expect but I learned how to bump and run the ropes and overall just learned the basics for a long time.
5-Who had the greatest impact on your career? Who inspired you for your wrestling style?
I was a teenager so of course I loved John Cena and Randy Orton but I also read all the legends books and DVDS, I have tons so as a kid growing up, I knew about the history of pro wrestling. Now that I've learnt actual psychology and such I am really inspired by my trainer Damian Adams, his trainer Rip Rogers, the likes of Brad Armstrong, Johnny Saint, William Regal. I watch a lot of old Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko. I enjoy studying tape that is older and taking parts that I can reinvent.
6-Wrestlers are very often on the road, so do you have any story for our readers?
Damian and I flew Rip to NJ once in June 2014. I was so excited to finally meet him, and I went to shake his hand and instead he looked at me and said "oh, so you're a tough bitch ain't ya?" That's the best road story I have.
7-If you could change anything about the wrestling industry, what would it be?
I grew up watching Playboy pillow fights and bra and panties matches so my goal was to always be able to change the way women in wrestling are perceived. I think there's so many women wrestlers who feel so strongly about the same thing that collectively, we've all been able to change the dynamic of wrestling.
8-2 years ago, you wrestled a match against Brooke Tessmacher in TNA on PPV, nobody knew who you were and now 2 years later you are one of the best women in wrestling industry and you wrestled in NXT, ROH and TNA again and more, you're one of the fastest rising female names in wrestling, how do you feel about that?
My 8th professional match was in front of the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL. I don't think many others can say that rose that fast but I am thankful. I was in the right place at the right times leading up to that and my trainers prepared me for what was to come. To be able to have so many opportunities so fast is so unheard of but I feel that I've worked hard and I earned each of the chances I've gotten. There's a quote that says "you'll never be 100% ready and it's never going to be just the right time, but that's the point. It means every moment is the right moment." I live by that.
9-How did you feel when you were wrestling some of the best womens in wrestling industry like Asuka, Mandy Leon, Sumie Sakai?
I've also been able to share a ring with some great talent like Asuka and Sumie as you said. But also, Mickie James, Candice LaRae and Heidi Lovelace, Havok, Brooke Tessmacher, and Velvet Sky... all of the women on the NXT roster are phenomenal... I have just been blessed to meet and learn from so many different styles and different people, it has definitely helped me become a more well rounded wrestler.
10-Have you been contacted by one of the 3 biggest women's wrestling federations (Shimmer/Shine/WSU)?
I was actually scheduled to work with WSU but had to cancel due to prior commitments but I would love to work with any of the three companies in the future.
11-How did you and your family react when WWE,TNA and ROH contacted you to be on their show?
My family has always been really supportive since I started. They watch all the matches I send them links and pictures too. They are just so happy for me.
12-Did one of these companies (WWE/TNA/ROH) offered you a contract? If no, in wich one of these companies would you like to wrestle (and/or sign a contract) and why?
I am a free agent. I am enjoying working for whomever I want and being able to get as much experience as possible.
13-How did you feel when you won your first wrestling championship?
My first championship was won when I competed in the ECWA Super 8. I was way overwhelmed that people thought that higkly of me and how far women's wrestling has come to be able to bring 8 elite women in and kick ass all night, I was so incredibly proud of myself but for women in general.
14-With all the thing you've done, what do you consider as your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment is when I did my first 1 hour iron man match with Mike Mondo.
15-There is a lot of hype surrounding women's wrestling with WWE making a Divas revolution, putting divas matches as main events, ROH making "Women Of Honor",... so what are your thoughts on the current state of Women’s Wrestling? Do you think that female wrestlers have more opportunities now?
I stated earlier it was always my goal to help change women's wrestling and collectively, again so many women had the same mission and I believe it is in full effect right now.
16-How do you see your future in wrestling? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I'm not sure where I'll be in 5 years. All I know is I will still be wrestling, regardless where it is for and whom it is against! Hopefully I'll be graduated from college though!!!
